I have recently been making some fruitcakes because of it being Christmas and I tend to make them at this time of the year. I was thinking, while I was baking, where the expression as nutty as a fruitcake came from because I never put nuts in my fruit cakes. However, I did some research on it and it seems that it is traditional to put nuts in a fruit cake and that is where the expression comes from. It is so funny that an expression like that can come from something as innocent as fruit cakes! I guess all expressions come from really strange places and so I shouldn’t really be surprised about this one! It also amazes me that if I want to know something that I can just go on the Internet and look it up like I did for this phrase. As a child we would have had to rely on an encyclopaedia and if that did not have the information that we wanted then we just had to do without it. Now I cannot imagine life without it and it would be so frustrating if I needed some information but had no means of looking it up. It is amazing to think that I managed to do my homework without being able to do any research using the Internet and just having to rely on my books. I will show my children how to do good research as soon as they start showing some interest in the Internet as I have a Masters degree in research, I think that I am qualified to help them. I feel that it is very important to be able to work out what information is reliable and where to look for good data. Also it is very important to know how to reference material as obviously you need to explain where your source of information is, in case it is incorrect.
Do you find it hard to organize things in your house? I find that I tend to have things stacked on top of eachother or piled up, so that if I need to get one thing out, I have to search through the whole lot in order to find it and I end up making a real mess. It can be extremely frustrating. I have therefore been looking around for a much better storage solution. The first thing that I came across was a garage organization system. This is fantastic and I will definitely be buying it as it means that I can move quite a bit of the clutter outside of the house. I have plenty of room in the garage and did not think before about putting some of my things in there. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before but I am thrilled at the idea now. I will put things that I do not use that often out there and then it will free up some space inside. I have also decided to get some bedroom closet organizers as mine is always such a mess. Hopefully it will help me to separate out my clothes into different seasons and also to make a bit more sense of what is in there. I know that whenever I have a tidy up in there, I always find some things in the back which are lovely but that I forgot I had. Hopefully if things are better organized then this will no longer happen. It will be fantastic to be much tidier and have places for everything. I do try to be clutter free but without some sort of storage system it makes it pretty hard and so I am really looking forward to being able to clear some of the mess and have a tidy house at last.
My friend was telling me about a web based training course that she had recently done. She said that she had expected it to not be very good because it wasn’t so interactive as a non WBT course. However, she said that once she started it, she was surprised at how professional it was and how much better it was to work at your own pace, rather than at the speed that the tutor dictated. This certainly made me think that perhaps it would be a good way for me to learn some new things, rather than having to free up some time to do a taught course, I could just do a web based course in my own time.

I have been doing some research for work into different sorts of houses. My client has asked me to carefully investigate the property market in particular areas but he is only interested in the best quality housing. I have therefore been looking for developments where the houses have a good finish and a well fitted kitchen as well as large rooms and gardens too. I have also been looking for properties with outstanding features that make them more interesting than others. One development has really stood out for me and that is Asheville townhomes. The properties look to be of a fantastic standard but the big difference between these and other developments is that they are built as part of a community where there is a town centre close by so you can shop within walking distance. I think this would really give the residents a sense of belonging and community and so I think that for him to invest in this area he is bound to see a good return on his investment. It is likely that this type of property will always be appealing and so should sell quickly and therefore keep the aksing prices high. My brother has been telling me how fantastic the North Carolina golf courses are. He has recently visited and had a really good golfing holiday there playing in quite a few different places. I love golf too and am really jealous of the fact that he had a holiday focussing on golf. I try to play as often as I can but my wife does not like the game at all. This makes things quite difficult at times when she wants to spend time with me and I want to be out on the course. I have tried to get her to come along but it just isn’t for her. She got frustrated at not being able to hit the ball very well and gave up quickly. She would much rather play tennis with her friends but they do not play as often as I play golf which is why there are sometimes problems. I do wonder whether we coudl compromise and go on a holiday at a country club where there are not only golf facilities but other sports as well and then she could go and get some tennis lessons or swim. The problem is persuading her that is a good idea. Her idea of a holiday is spending time together not apart! I would love to go with my brother and then he coudl show me all the good courses that he played but I do not think she will be up for that somehow! My brother made me even more jealous by telling me about NC Golf homesites for sale which he is thinking of buying. He was so taken with the golf courses that he is seriously considering buying a property out there so that he can go more regularly and take me with him sometimes. That woudl be fantastic!
